Millennials arrived at the party too late - our world is on the brink of environmental catastrophe, and we continue to deny it. Bright Summer Night brings together a motley group of teenagers at a house party in the bewildering heat of New Zealand summer. Break-ups, new love, drugs, and amateur theatre all make this one chaotic event as the characters attempt to forget their issues, whether personal or global. The storyline is inspired by William Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream, but the modern setting re-contextualises the play's themes of escapism, environmentalism, sexuality, and consent. Just like the world they live in, we see some of the characters are determined to keep dreaming; putting off tomorrow to indulge in the night.

This powerful drama exposes the deep-seated racial tensions hidden in British family life during the late 1950s. Written for the stage by Unity Theatre's Ted Willis, this television recording was filmed a few weeks after the play's successful West End run, and most of the stage cast repeat their roles here, including the terrific John Slater, Andree Melly and Lloyd Reckord. The drama's interracial kiss is probably the first to be shown on British TV.

By adopting this concert in a public place and free entry, the Philharmonic Orchestra of Vienna aims to make classical music accessible to a wide range of listeners / viewers. The summer concert at Schonbrunn, which is a production of the Austrian State Radio and Television broadcast every year live or pre-recorded in over 80 countries worldwide. The palace of Schonbrunn, with its Baroque gardens, a UNESCO World Heritage of UNESCO, but at the same time is the most important tourist attraction of Vienna. The old park only opens once a year, on the occasion of this concert.

A Summer Night tells the story of Summer (Chuti Tiu), an exotic dancer and recovering alcoholic who is plunged into a race against time to raise money for her mother's experimental cancer treatment over the course of one night. Because of the enforced isolation of the pandemic, she must seek out a series of clients virtually in order to dance for them – all while knowing that the clock is ticking. Throughout the night, Summer tries to stay focused on her mission while still dealing with the remnants of her toxic relationship with her boyfriend, the threat of succumbing to the lure of the bottle, and the surprising – and possibly life-saving -moments of humanity, as the night wears on and her deadline
